We are proud to plant 100 trees a month with International Tree FoundationITF has funded community forestry projects in the UK and internationally for 90 years and has been responsible for the establishment of hundreds of millions of trees.
ITF was founded in 1924 by Richard St Barbe Baker, or “St Barbe” as he was known – a visionary and tree planter. His environmental knowledge, passion and activism made him a vital force for tree planting and conservation. He was generations ahead of his time in terms of environmental activism and as a campaigner he achieved much, not just to save trees, but to instil in others the love for trees that he carried wherever he went.
International Tree Foundation (ITF) is a UK registered non-governmental organisation (NGO), it is one of the oldest established forestry organisations in the UK, originally set up in 1924. ITF supports community-based groups to plant trees in the UK and Africa, and to raise awareness about the importance of trees to life on Earth. http://internationaltreefoundation.org
20 Million TREES FOR KENYA’S FORESTS_
As ITF nears their centenary, they are returning to where it all began, in Kenya in 1924. 20 Million Trees for Kenya’s Forests aims to restore tree cover in a country that has seen serious depletion of its forest resources. Today, only 7% of the country is covered by trees.
ITF are working with local groups on the ground to replant deforested land in Kenya’s major forests which are important sources of water, biodiversity and livelihoods. 20 million trees will sequester 400 thousand tonnes of carbon every year.
